Summary List of Quality AAU Progams in Pittsburgh Area

There are a lot of options available in the Pittsburgh AAU scene.  In compiling this list, we used our personal experience and the recommendations of the HS coaches, area coaches, players and our connections within the Pittsburgh Basketball Community.  We focused on programs that have great teachers, that focus on the women's game, and "do things the right way".  We strongly recommend that you attend a workout of tryout of at least 2 programs, this will allow for you to get a feel for the organization and find a good "fit" for what you and your daughter are looking for.  Clicking on the logos will take you to each of their websites to learn more about their programs.   A National Ranking of Grassroots/Club/AAU programs provided by Kenny Kallina of Max Recruits & JR All-Stars

At Drill For Skill, we certainly love the game of basketball — but we love connecting with young people through our beautiful game even more. Skill development is the end result, but who a child becomes while pursuing excellence is the essence of our efforts. To that end, Coach Miller has operated Drill For Skill for more than 30 years on the following core beliefs:

•Every child is an athlete. And every child can become a BETTER athlete.

•We are teachers. And the court is our classroom.

•Relentless focus on the fundamentals is the pathway to mastery.

•We know we’re not important enough to change the world — but we’re important enough to change SOMEONE’S world.

•Talent is never enough. With few exceptions, the best players are the harder workers.

•Our lives are a series of habits. It’s important to develop good ones at a young age.

•Trust. It’s everything.

Introducing Erudite Basketball

Kids who are active and involved in sports are more likely to do better in school and lead healthier lifestyles as adults. The mission of Erudite Basketball is to develop the basketball skills of young women while encouraging excellence in the classroom. Our young student-athletes will grow as basketball players through a focus on the fundamentals which in turn allows them to become leaders when they return to their school teams in the fall.

Focus on the Student-Athlete

A student-athlete is defined as a student who participates in an organized competitive sport sponsored by the school in which he or she is enrolled. Student-athletes must balance the roles of being both a student and an athlete at their school. The school could be a grade school or major university. Erudite Basketball was formed with the student-athlete in mind. Our coaches understand the relationship between academic achievement and athletic opportunity…and we reinforce that relationship regularly throughout the season. We actively recruit players who maintain a 3.5 GPA or better to ensure that our kids understand the importance of good grades.
